4 Things More Deadly Than A Plane Crash

Last night, a plane flying from Newark to Buffalo crashed into a house just outside its destination. And this time, there was no miraculous landing on the Hudson. Fifty people died and the country is in mourning.

With two planes crashing within a month of each other, air travel may have some knees knocking with fear. However, frequent fliers may be relieved (?) to know that they’re more likely to kick the bucket in other ways.

Here are some grisly stats for the average American:

Chances of dying in a plane crash: 1 in 11 million.

Chances of dying while cruising on your bike: 1 out of every 410,000

Chances of dying in a car accident: 1 in 7,700

Chances of dying by lightning strike: 1 in 400,000

Chances of dying while riding in an animal-drawn vehicle: 1 out of about 3 million
